UAS Software Applications

There is a suite of software programs that we use to develop the range of services and products. Primarily we use DJI PC Ground Station integrated with ESRI ArcGIS 10.2 for mission planning. To create photo mosaics and 3D modelling outputs we rely on Pix4Dmapper. We also use programs such as PhotoShop, GoPro Studio and AvideMux for photo and video editing.

UAV Photogrammetry & Remote Sensing Precision

In terms of the theory of aerial photogrammetry the first accounts go back to the mid-1800’s. It’s not until the 1990’s that digital soft-copy photogrammetry came of age. As we know it today remote sensing and photogrammetry using UAV or drones to capture and analyze digital images for precise surface measurements is possible with the combination of camera resolution, unmanned aerial systems and powerful and complex user-friendly 2D and 3D modeling software tools.

Advanteck utilizes 2D and 3D modelling software tools to extract precise surface measurements from high-resolution digital imagery. We also employ professional RTK GPS survey systems to fix the precise scale, orient and position of target. This combined technology permits us to make accurate ortho-rectified imagery, produce highly accurate point clouds and to calculate volumes of aggregates just to mention a few possibilities.

Integrating ArcGIS and Photogrammetry Models

Our teams’ experience in integrating functions of ArcGIS, Google Maps and flight planning software makes us uniquely qualified to complete successful missions and quality results. A key piece in developing professional, quality results with the highest accuracy is in flight planning. We can integrate multiple applications in order to design the most efficient and effective missions. This ensures that when we get to the final modelling and data processing stage that we have the required data to achieve the best possible results.

PC Ground Station

Advanteck uses DJI’s PC Ground Station (GS) and ArcMap softwares which permit the pilot to pre-plan flight mission thereby ensuring a more consistent, precise image coverage and overlap of the target area.  Ground Station software permits the user to set the geographic flight area, flight lines, aircraft altitude and speed.  Front and side overlap  are pre-set and the mission can be simulated improving consistency and safety.

ArcGIS is a professional geomatics software tool, used for mapping and managing large spatial data sets. Advanteck uses ESRI ArcGIS for mission planning and also aerial photography image management

3D Mapping Software

Multi-image triangulation based on image pixel precision enable 3D models to generate professional mapping and survey outputs. Advanteck Inc. uses advanced stand-alone 2D and 3D mapping software called Pix4Dmapper and/or AgiSoft to process digital aerial imagery taken with our professional UAS. These models convert digital imagery into ortho-mosaics and 3D surface models. A survey precision of up to 3 cm horizontally and vertically is possible. The system produces a range of products including geo-referenced orthomosaics where professional RTK survey instrument is employed. Digital Surface Models (DSM’s), Digital Terrain Models (DTM’s) and textured 3D point clouds can also be produced.
