Advanteck flies a DJI Spreading Wings S900 Professional Multirotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) fully equipped with the latest navigation, safety and sensor equipment.  The S900 is a true professional platform that can carry up to 8 kg (18 pounds) and has a suite of flight FailSafe technologies including DropSafe, an automatically activated parachute.

Complete missions can be programmed into the UAS and the system will fly the mission automatically, from take-off to landing under pilot supervision.  It is equipped with GPS position and flight altitude controls that stabilizes the aircraft in the event of a motor malfunction and automatically returns home.

Lightbridge

Lightbridge has a built-in 2.4G remote control link with the UAV that both sends flight controls to the unit and receives HD/AV video from the UAV camera sensor from up to 1.7 km away.  This system uses a strong anti-jamming technology called Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) + Direct Sequence Spread System (DSSS) technology for the uplink transmission to enhance stability and offer anti-jamming capability.

Camera Gimbal

The UAS is equipped with a Zenmuse gimbal and retractable landing gear for unobstructed HD/AV video and still imagery. The gimbal allows the pilot to take vertical or oblique imagery as well as follow targets with pan and tilt functionality.

Advanteck has a range of on-board aerial sensors that allows us to capture a range of data. The heart of the UAV is its sensor and it determines the type and quality of information the system can collect.

 

Visual Sensors

The Sony α6000 is a 24MP mirrorless camera with a full APS-C sensor and the world’s fastest auto focus. It is capable of taking full HD 1080/24/60P video and 4K still image output by HDMI. The α6000 has removable lenses and with lense adaptors can use any Canon or Nikon DSLR lenses. This camera weighs 413 g.

Forward Looking Infrared Radiometer

The Tau 2 324 7.5 mm thermal imaging camera or any of the lineup of Tau FLIR cameras can be mounted to the UAS to take thermal imagery for surveillance and to locate heat signature of targets.

Forward Looking Infrared Radar (FLIR) thermal imaging cameras can be used for a range of services including the inspection of solar panels. FLIR imaging can assist in the collection of evidence by law enforcement. It can be used in surveillance.

Fire departments use FLIR to assess, evaluate and gain situation awareness. The idea being to stand back and identify hot spots and/or potential structural collapse zones. They can be used by fire departments and or insurance agencies to identify hot spots after the main fire has been suppressed. FLIR can also been used to identify heat loss in buildings.

Search and Rescue teams can use thermal imaging at the fraction of the cost of helicopters and in some cases much quicker response times to identify individuals lost in forested area within or around municipalities.

Thermal imaging is also used to identify anomalies in crop fields according to their heat signature.

RTK Survey Equipment

3D photogrammetry modelling software is capable of analysing and calibrating a mosaic of project images without precise geolocation or ground control points.  However, most UAS use consumer grade, low-accuracy on-board GPS equipment with a ± 5 m margin of error.   Advanteck uses high-precision GPS Ground Control Points (GSP) to precisely scale, orient and position the pixel resolution of a photo mosaic where required.   A GCP is a mark on the ground measured with a high precision GPS within the project area.   A minimal number of GCP’s are required to accurately geo-rectify a photo mosaic with its real scale, orientation and position on the earth.

Advanteck uses professional, highly precise GPS RTK base and rover surveying equipment to obtain GCP’s.  The number of GCP’s depends on the project size and degree and relative position of relief within the project.  On average between 4-13 GCP’s are more than sufficient.
